Shrub Roses

This group of roses, varying widely in ancestry and description, were created by various breeders who crossed Species and other older roses with various types of modern roses. Freestanding and often recurrent flowering, Shrub Roses are useful in the garden as they are relatively carefree and vigorous, blooming later than most other roses. Although technically shrub roses too, the English, Rugosa, Explorer and Species Roses have been put in separate categories in our catalogue because they have distinctly different needs and uses.

In this category are the Hybrid Musk roses, Teas and Hybrid Tea roses, Polyanthas, Floribunda roses, Modern Shrub roses, and Pimpinellifolia roses.

Hybrid Musk

Developed from relatives of the original old musk rose, Rosa moschata, Hybrid Musks are an increasingly favoured class of roses valued for their large trusses of refined and colourful fragrant flowers and their graceful growth habits. Dating from the early 1900's, these roses make good border plants and flower profusely in summer with intermittent flowers later. (Hardy to zone 6.)

Our Favourites: Ballerina, Buff Beauty and Felicia.

"Carol and Tony,

My roses arrived. We received a phone call from the bus depot at 6PM. They are beautiful plants and I am out to give them a good planting. Happiness is a labour of love."
