The second group of
OGR's is not quite as old as the first group of ancient roses but
they are equally rewarding in the garden. Like the first group, these
roses are also relatively easy to grow and generally retain the delicious
old garden roses perfume, but most of them also have some ability
to bloom repeatedly. While many have retained the healthy OGR foliage,
some have foliage more closely resembling that of the modern roses,
and are as a result somewhat more prone to fungus diseases on the
leaves. Not quite as hardy as those in Group 1, these roses have retained
the beauty of the older type flowers. This group includes China Roses, Portland Roses, Bourbon Roses, Hybrid Perpetual Roses, and Noisettes.
